meet me at the next stop is an immersive installation, housing mixed media artworks that explore everyday life in western Sydney centred around public transport. Masquerading as a replica bus stop, audiences were invited to interact with the structure to explore the personal struggles, anxieties, and joys of being a “western Sydney artist”.
Public transport plays a big role for western Sydney communities, oftentimes becoming a social space for friends to meet. meet me at the next stop was created as a tribute to these iconic public structures, celebrating their contribution to marking place and holding local history.
Forgotten headphones left on benches played the inner thoughts of passengers waiting for their bus. Screens looped videos of satirical advertisements and anxious timetable scrolling. Portraits of local community members from Mount Druitt adorn the back panels, as the colourful front panels acted as a collaborative interaction as guests were invited to graffiti or mark the boards - dedicated to each community that the bus stop finds itself in.
meet me at the next stop first exhibited at FUNPARK Festival in 2022, and later at Blacktown Arts (18/11/2022 - 3/12/2022).
