Rise & Grind Inc. is a satirical advertisement that shows the dangers of work culture and the impact it has on an individual.
Through the production design, I wanted to juxtapose the tired and gloomy feelings of our characters with a brighter colour palette. Oftentimes we tend to surround ourselves with bright colours to sell an idea to ourselves - that we're not tired, or that we're happy in our jobs. I wanted to bring that idea out to every corner of the frame. You view Mikki, Jimmy and June's life in pink, blue and yellow coloured shades. If you look closely at the set details you'll find clues to the characters personality, reminding the viewer that these characters have other aspirations and hobbies put on hold in order to uphold the Rise & Grind mentality.
